- Cavaliere has a lovely sandy beach, from which one may swim, sail, wind surf,
paraglide, waterski etc. Tennis courts may be hired at the tennis club where
there is also a restaurant and swimming pool.
- Shopping is very convenient with a boulangerie close at hand and a small supermarket nearby. In the village there
are a few shops, restaurants, bars and a pizzeria. In Le Lavandou there are
three large supermarkets, good shops and restaurants.
Cavaliere is one of twelve beaches in the commune of Le Lavandou and is situated
on a protected coastline. The area benefits from a mild climate in winter with
lush semi-tropical vegetation.
- To the west you can visit Bormes Les Mimosas, an
ancient hilltop medieval village famous for its mimosa, which flowers from
January to March, with views of the sea and the islands of Hyeres.
- The islands
of Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant are very popular especially with
divers, nature lovers and botanists.
- Hyeres, an old medieval town, boasts a
casino, a racecourse and some wonderful public gardens and large avenues lined
with palm trees.
- To the east lies St Tropez, Port Grimaud and the rest of the
Cote d'Azur.
- Behind the coast is the Maures Massif, covered in huge forests, an
important centre for the production of cork. Its capital Collobrieres, home of
the chestnut and "marrons glaces", is a charming village and well worth a visit.
